Training Talk: The Taper

Right before an event many training plans will include a few weeks at a lower intensity. This is referred to as a taper week, and is really quite important to keeping your legs fresh for the event. The taper will help your muscles rebuild from the training, but isn't too long that you start to… Continue reading Training Talk: The Taper

Running Event Purge

During my 2020 running goals post this year, I mentioned that I was planning on doing less events this coming year. This seems very counterintuitive to what many others are doing. Especially during the colder winter weather we're currently experience. I'm sure many of you have been looking into all the summer races you've got… Continue reading Running Event Purge

Run Training: Give Yourself a Break

At the moment, many runners are out there getting in all their training sessions. But if you aren't that dedicated to your plan, it's alright. Run Training: Treadmill Sessions

If you're in the UK, you've probably noticed that the weather hasn't been great recently. The sun hasn't been out for less and less hours, making both morning and evening runs a little less pleasant, and the sofa or bed a lot more appetising. If dark running isn't your thing though, it might be time to switch over to treadmill running until the sessions start to change again. I've been slowly incorporating more and more treadmill sessions into my plan, and I'm not hating it as much as I thought I would. Here's a few sessions that you can do to help decrease your treadmill dread.

Training Talk – Base Run Training

There's a few weeks left of the year, and so for many runners there probably aren't any races that you're gearing up for. If there is, well done! I for one am only racing with myself in these coming weeks, especially as the races around my way are very much now turning to fun run events. If you're like me then, you may feel it's too early to start training for your next big race a the start of next year but don't want to loose the momentum of training that you've currently got into. So what should you do? The best answer is base training. Follow the blog post to find out more about base training.
