Running events have taken a little backseat for a while. With the hopes of all the postponed races going ahead in the Autumn, we now need to try and motivate ourselves to get moving and continue with some sort of training. If you're housebound, you're probably finding that you're not getting in as many steps… Continue reading Run Training: Fun Activities During Your Run

Training Talk: Strength Exercises
If you run, you've probably heard from many a source that lifting weights and doing strength work can really aid your running performance. This post is about to do the same thing, but it will also talk through which exercises will help you the most, and why. Focusing on weight training and body-weight exercises does… Continue reading Training Talk: Strength Exercises
Teaching Tips: Dance Teaching Online
There's a lot going on in the world right now, which mean there's a lot of uncertainty. Here in the UK we were advised to avoid non-essential contact from Monday the 16th of March. The advice came out while I was teaching dance classes in a local hall. The following day most of the dance… Continue reading Teaching Tips: Dance Teaching Online
Running During Lockdowns
Right now, I think it's fair to say that, the outside world is getting a bit lonely. With larger gatherings banned in many different countries, motivating yourself for getting out for your run is getting that bit harder. You may not even be able to get out of the house due to your restrictions. So… Continue reading Running During Lockdowns
Race Review: Bath Half 2020
Last Sunday I took to the streets to take part in my first big city marathon. Whilst there was controversy over it actually going ahead, the organisers stuck to their guns and chose to go ahead. Many runners/spectators didn’t agree with this decision and so instead ran their own 'virtual' Bath Half in their own… Continue reading Race Review: Bath Half 2020
Toddler Ballet Syllabi
There are so many franchises offering lesson plans and syllabus for you to use to help build pre-ballet classes. When you're a dance teacher with accreditation through an organisation you are probably already… Continue reading Toddler Ballet Syllabi
Training Talk: The Taper
Right before an event many training plans will include a few weeks at a lower intensity. This is referred to as a taper week, and is really quite important to keeping your legs fresh for the event. The taper will help your muscles rebuild from the training, but isn't too long that you start to… Continue reading Training Talk: The Taper
Half Marathon Checklist
I think I've gone on about this long enough, but if you didn't know this month I'm taking on my first big city Half Marathon, the Bath Half. This event has a later start time than many other running events that I'm not used to. Many of them usually start at 9:30 or 10, however… Continue reading Half Marathon Checklist
Step Progressions: Ronds de Jambe en l’air
As part of training dancers we look to find movements that build up, getting a little harder with each graduation. Most steps have a natural to get further, doing the step in the air perhaps, adding in a double or triple. Other moves can be a little harder to spot what moves can come from this simple step. Today I'm examining the Ronds de Jambe en L'air step that is most common done at the barre.
Running Event Purge
During my 2020 running goals post this year, I mentioned that I was planning on doing less events this coming year. This seems very counterintuitive to what many others are doing. Especially during the colder winter weather we're currently experience. I'm sure many of you have been looking into all the summer races you've got… Continue reading Running Event Purge
